Sierra's Senior Session

When Sierra first contacted me and said she wanted lots of floral backdrops for her senior session, I knew we had to shoot at the Seattle Rose Garden. Ever since I found out about this little gem of a location, I have been wanting do do a senior session there!

Sierra brought her own unique, cool, understated style to the shoot, letting her edgy pixie cut and amazing ear piercings do the talking. She was such a sweetheart, chatting with me about her awesome boyfriend, the best places in Seattle for piercings, and so much else!

Check out the photos from her session below!

Amanda's Senior Session

I was so excited when Amanda reached out to me to take her senior portraits, since she will be graduating from the same high school I attended, the International Community School in Kirkland! We had so much fun during her session chatting about how ICS has changed, which of my favorite teachers she'll have in the coming year, and all the rest.

We shot her photos on the amazingly beautiful University of Washington campus. There were so many spots to photograph in, from big recognizable landmarks to secret little alcoves. I loved how Amanda put her outfits together too. Her vintage-inspired dresses and sweet, minimal accessories perfectly complimented her porcelain complexion and stunning blue eyes.

Check out her session below, and let me know where your dream portrait location would be in the comments!

Sonya & Lawrence Couples Session

Sonya was the winner of the Portrait Session Giveaway I hosted on my Facebook page back in early May. I was so thrilled to hear that she was planning on using her session to get photos of herself and her boyfriend, Lawrence, to celebrate their five (five!) year anniversary together.

These two were such a pleasure to photograph. They were both super comfortable in front of the camera, and also super adorable. You could tell that they are totally in love, and they were easily making each other laugh and smile the whole time.

We shot with the beautiful Volunteer Park as our backdrop. The park is located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle and has the most amazing greenhouse in the center. We mostly shot in there, amongst the palms and cacti, but we also took a few pictures on the lush green lawns of the park. Check out the rest of their "d'awww" worthy photos below!

Lianna's Senior Session

Oh my goodness, I don't think it's humanly possible to take a bad picture of miss Lianna here. This was such a fun session to shoot, and definitely a collaborative process! I love working together with my clients and hearing what their vision for their portraits is, so that we can make something truly unique and wonderful happen.

We talked a lot about she wanted her photos to look, and we decided to go for images that looked like they could belong in an Anthropologie catalog. So we opted to shoot in the evening, just as that magical golden light was coming into Seattle. Lianna totally nailed it with her outfits too! Elegant maxi skirts and a super chic two-set looked just stunning on her.

Magnuson Park in north Seattle is where we decided to shoot, and there was a wealth of locations to shoot at there! From the beautiful community garden where the neighborhood has planted a wealth of flowers and vegetables, to the golden fields of grass and wetlands around the Frog Pond.

Check out her session below, and let me know what you think in the comments!

Sibling Session with Audrey & Collin

In May I had the pleasure of shooting with Audrey and Collin, a brother and sister duo who were so fun to work with! These two contacted me about getting some portraits done as a present to their mom for Mother's Day. So sweet, right? I always say that memories and experiences are the best gifts of all. Mom got in on some of the photos too, which made for some really great photos.

There was plenty of goofing around with these two, and they kept the laughs going even though it was a super hot evening. We shot at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens, which is a favorite spot of mine. The perennial garden is always full of color, and the suspension bridge makes for a dramatic backdrop. I'm always looking forward to shooting more sessions here!

Spring Florals

I can't resist sharing these images from a shoot I collaborated on with Angel Dorr, Makeup Artist a few weeks ago. We had the beautiful Bailey as our model, and plenty of fresh and faux flowers to play with (anyone who knows me at all can tell you I'm a sucker for flowers, especially in my photos).

Angel was inspired by watercolors for her first look, matching Bailey's lips to her sherbet-colored hair and adding pops of powdery teal on her eyelids.

For the second look, she toned things down with sweeps of peach and taupe across her eyes and cheekbones. I love this look so much, it's sweet and romantic, but sophisticated as well.

We also took a few photos on expired polaroid film, which is super fun. Waiting to see how the colors will look when you peel apart the film is pretty much on the same level as opening birthday presents for me. They didn't disappoint! With all these lovely blues and magentas, I'll be treasuring this one for a long time.

What's your favorite part about spring? Is it the flowers, waking up to little tweety birds outside your window, or the fact that summer is just around the corner? Let me know in the comments below, along with what you think of the photos!

Warm wishes,

Welcome to the new site!

Dakos Photography is no longer the tiny side business it was in 2008, so it's high time it got a website completely its own. I'm so excited to welcome you to the new and improved! Hopefully the new layout will make it easier to find the information you need and more fun to peruse the portrait galleries.

The blog here will be a great way for me to share updates, offers, and fun sneak peeks from my sessions with you.

Thanks to everyone who has and who continues to support Dakos Photography, you mean the world to me and my business!

Warm wishes,
